I’m a mom and that has given me a new perspective on everything I do in my life. I think it makes me better at my job at the water park because I see things through the eyes of mothers and fathers who bring their children to our parks … whether it’s for a fun day in the park or part of their summer vacation.
Now that I spend so much time focused on Aquatics, I think more about water safety than I used to. The American Red Cross has some water safety tips on its website for keeping children safe in and around water. I wanted to mention a few of the tips for the other moms out there.
- Learn to swim.
- Swim in areas supervised by a lifeguard. If swimming at home, children should always be supervised by an adult.
- Read and follow all posted signs.
- Pay attention to weather conditions.
- Know how to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies.
- Weak or non-swimmers should use personal floatation devices.
- Learn CPR, have caregivers for children take CPR.
The guards at Water Country USA are certified every year in CPR/AED for Lifeguards and Shallow Water Guarding / Lifeguarding. They also attend in-services during each month. We are committed to keeping all of our guests safe.
